Mitchell Krier named KCAC Athlete of the Week

McPherson, Kan. – Junior Mitchell Krier received the honor of KCAC Men’s Field Athlete of the Week in a recent announcement by the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference. This marks the first such honor for Krier.

Krier, a native of Sterling, Colo., claimed his second pole vault win of the season at the Bethel Invitational in North Newton, Kan., as he bettered the McPherson College school record with a vault of 4.85m (15’-11”). His vault was 0.40m (1’-3.73”) better than the second place finisher.

Krier’s previous victory came at the Tabor College Invitational on April 14. He vaulted 4.72m (14’-0”), gaining him entrance into the NAIA National Outdoor Meet.

Prior to the outdoor season, Krier was one of three Bulldog representatives to the NAIA National Indoor Meet. At the NAIA Indoors, he matched his current season best of 4.85m (15’-11”) en route to a fifth place finish and All-American honors.

Krier and the rest of the Bulldog track team will return to action this Friday and Saturday as they travel to Ottawa, Kan. for the annual KCAC Championships. Events are set to begin at 2:00 p.m. on Friday.
