McPherson, Kan. – McPherson College women’s track and field athlete, Andrea Swanson, was honored by receiving placement on the 2010 Track and Field Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete list in a recent announcement by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). Swanson received the same award earlier this year following the women’s soccer season.

As a junior, Swanson has been one of the top throwers in the nation, breaking the McPherson College record in both the shot put and hammer throw, while qualifying for the NAIA National Outdoor Track Championships for the second consecutive season. At the national meet, Swanson finished 14th with a mark of 13.51m (44’-6.25”). Swanson, the KCAC champion on the women’s shot put, is majoring in elementary education while at McPherson College.

The Bulldog track and field team concluded its 2010 season at the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships this past weekend in Marion, Ind.
