McPherson, Kan. – McPherson College Director of Athletics Jenni Richardson announced today that Cy Rolfs has been named McPherson College’s Head Women’s Basketball Coach. Rolfs, a 2008 graduate of McPherson College, spent the last three seasons as the head boy’s coach at Natoma High School (Kan.).
“I am pleased to welcome Cy to the athletic department and coaching staff here at McPherson College,” said athletic director Jenni Richardson. “Being a graduate of McPherson, Cy is an outstanding fit for our program, the College, and the community of McPherson. We look forward to his development of the program.”
Rolfs said following the announcement, “I am very excited about the chance to build something special with the McPherson College women’s basketball program. The opportunity to coach at this level has always been a goal of mine, and it being McPherson College makes it that much more exciting. I grew up around the KCAC, played at McPherson, and I believe that experience will help me transition in. I hope to bring even more excitement to the traditions being built at McPherson College.”
Along with coaching boy’s basketball, Rolfs served as the assistant athletic director and an assistant track coach for the Tigers.
Familiar with the KCAC, Rolfs spent two seasons as a member of the McPherson College men’s basketball team under long time Bulldog coach Roger Trimmell. During his time as a Bulldog, Rolfs was named a 2007 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete, while MC made two appearances in the KCAC Tournament quarterfinals.
Rolfs graduated from McPherson College in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration. He is currently working on a master’s degree in sport management from Wichita State University.
