McPherson, Kan. – McPherson College women’s soccer player Andrea Swanson, Littleton, Colo., added another honor to her resume as the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics named her to the honorable mention All-American squad. The squads were selected by the NAIA Women’s Soccer All-American Selection Committee. Swanson received the same honor as a freshman in 2007.

“We are proud of Andrea and her accomplishments this fall,” said McPherson head women’s soccer coach Robert Talley. “She trained hard in the off season to try and come back from her shoulder surgeries and it paid off. To receive an honor such as this for her second time in three years shows the quality of player Andrea is.”

Swanson, a 2007 graduate of Heritage High School in Littleton, Color., was previously selected as the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference’s Goalkeeper of the Year and to the All-KCAC first team. On the season, Swanson started 16 matches, including a 1-0 shutout of Southwestern College in the quarterfinals of the KCAC tournament. Andrea posted a .652 goals against average, allowing 11 goals, while tallying 52 saves, including eight shutouts.

The Bulldogs finished the season 10-5-3 following a loss to Kansas Wesleyan University in the KCAC tournament semifinals, 0-2.

Swanson is the daughter of Scott and Joyce Swanson of Littleton, Colo. She is majoring in elementary education with plans of graduating this spring.
