Swanson and Williams named Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athletes

McPherson, Kan. – McPherson College women’s soccer players Andrea Swanson, Littleton, Colo., and Whitney Williams were recently named 2009 Daktronics-NAIA Women’s Soccer Scholar-Athletes. Swanson and Williams were nominated by head coach Robert Talley. To be considered for Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete squad, the student athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and have achieved junior academic status.

Williams started all 18 games for the Bulldogs and registered a team leading five assists to go along with four goals for 13 points. Her 13 points ranked second on the team.

Swanson started 16 games in goal for the Bulldogs and registered a record of 10-3-3, including a team-high eight shutouts. Andrea recorded 52 saves, while allowing 11 goals for a .652 goals against average.

The Bulldogs finished the season 10-5-3 following a loss to Kansas Wesleyan University in the KCAC tournament semifinals, 0-2.
