McPherson, Kan. – Three players from the McPherson College volleyball team received All-KCAC honors in a recent vote of the conference coaches.

Freshman outside-hitter Natalie Boss was named to the All-KCAC second team, while sophomore middle-hitter Amy Neufeld and sophomore libero Brooke Wedel were named to the honorable mention squad.

“Natalie Boss had a very good freshman campaign,” said McPherson head coach Susan Barton. “She is a very powerful and smart hitter. She is capable of hitting the ball anywhere on the court and has been solid for us on the outside.” Boss is a 2008 graduate of Valley Heights High School, Waterville, Kan.

Boss has appeared in all 27 matches for the Bulldogs this season, leading the team in kills, averaging 2.30 per set, while posting 221 total kills and a .204 attack percentage during the KCAC regular season. Defensively, the Waterville, Kan., native ranks third on the team with 23 solo blocks.

Natalie is majoring in elementary education at McPherson College.

Amy Neufeld hails from Hillsboro (Kan.) High School and is a 2007 graduate.

“Amy has been our most consistent blocker this year, frustrating our opponents with her ability to read hitters. She has really matured in her court awareness.”

Neufeld led McPherson and ranked sixth in the KCAC during the regular season with 0.93 blocks per set. Her best performance came on September 21 against the KCAC regular season champion Tabor College Blue Jays. Neufeld frustrated the Blue Jay attack with 6.0 blocks, including five solo blocks. She also chipped in with two kills as McPherson dropped the match in five (25-23, 19-25, 16-25, 26-24, 12-15).

Amy is majoring in physical education at McPherson College.

Graduating from Mounddridge High School in 2007, Wedel transferred to MC from Hesston College this fall.

“Brooke has been very steady for us in the back row and our team needed that this year. You can count on her to get the ball to the setters. She has a great knowledge of the game and has helped our young team to grow and improve throughout the year.”

Wedel leads a McPherson back line that ranks sixth in the KCAC, averaging 15.09 digs per set. Her 353 total digs during the regular season led the Bulldogs and ranked seventh in the conference. Brooke is ranked first among the Bulldogs with a passing percentage of .959 on 724 total attempts.

Brooke's major is in graphic design.
