Salina, Kan. – In one of the closest polls to date, the McPherson College football program received the third place position in both the media and coaches’ polls at the annual KCAC Football Media Day, held at the Salina Country Club in Salina, Kan. The polls were voted on by the ten coaches and by media members who cover the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference.

Just 13 points in the coaches’ poll and 22 in the media separated first to third place as Friends University (86; 196) took the top spot, followed by Ottawa (85; 187) and McPherson (73; 174) to round out the top three.

The Falcons split the ten available first place votes in the coaches’ poll, while taking 11 of the 21 from the media. McPherson received five first place votes from the members of the media.

The Bulldogs finished 2009 with a 9-2 overall record, 8-1 in conference action. MC’s season ended in the NAIA Football Championship series against MidAmerica Nazarene University, 24-40. McPherson opens its season on September 4 at 7:00 p.m. against Haskell Indian Nations University.
