McPherson, Kan. – Seniors
Andy Skinner (Montezuma, Kan.),
David Kraft (Peck, Kan.) and
Chase Ozbun (Rose Hill, Kan.), along with junior
Jake Snodgrass (Derby, Kan.) have been named to the Capital One Academic All-District 6 College Division Football Team, announced Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
To be considered for the award, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore, have a cumulative grade point average of at least a 3.30 on a 4.0 scale and participate in at least 50 percent of the team’s games as a starter or key reserve. By virtue of their selection, the four Bulldogs advance to the national ballot for Academic All-American honors with the other winners across the organizations eight districts.
Skinner, biochemistry major from Montezuma, Kan., is making his second appearance on the all-district team, as he was named to the second team in 2010. He leads the team in receptions (40), receiving yards (550) and receiving touchdowns (7), while ranking third on the team in scoring with 42 points. Additionally, Skinner is the programs all-time career leading in receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns. He is a two-time member of the All-KCAC team and last season was selected NAIA Honorable Mention All-American.
Ozbun, an automotive restoration major from Rose Hill, Kan., ranks third on the team with 25 catches for 357 yards and two touchdowns. Earlier this season, Ozbun set a career-high with five receptions for 75 yards in McPherson’s 28-12 victory at Tabor College.
Kraft, psychology major from Peck, Kan., is a three-year starter on the offensive line. Last season, Kraft was named to his second All-KCAC team and was an NAIA Honorable Mention All-American. In 2011, he has played a vital role on a Bulldog offensive line that has struggled with injuries.
Snodgrass, biochemistry major from Derby, Kan., is in his first season as the starting quarterback for the Bulldogs. On the season, Snodgrass is completing 55 percent (158-of-285) of his passes for 1,975 yards and 19 touchdowns, including a career-high 301 yards passing against the University of Saint Mary on Oct. 29. Snodgrass needs just 25 yards passing this coming Saturday to become the sixth MC quarterback in the last 14 years to eclipse the 2,000-yards passing mark.
McPherson College competes in the College Division of District 6, which consists of NAIA and junior college student-athletes that attend school in the states of Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, and South Dakota.
The Bulldogs wrap up the 2011 season on Saturday when they play host to Sterling College at 1:30 p.m. (CT).
