McPherson, Kan. – Sophomore defensive specialist
Karina Harvey (Walton, Kan.) was named to the Capital One Academic All-District 6 College Division Volleyball Team on Thursday, announced by the College Sports Information Directors of American (CoSIDA). Harvey is one of two Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference athletes named to the all-district squad.
To be considered for the award, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore, have a cumulative grade point average of at least a 3.30 on a 4.0 scale and participate in at least 50 percent of the team’s games as a starter or key reserve. By virtue of her selection, Harvey advances to the national ballot for Academic All-American honors with the other winners from the other eight districts.
Harvey, a sociology major from Walton, Kan., finished the season ranked third on the team with 201 total digs and fourth with a 1.90 digs per set average. For her career, Harvey owns 335 digs (1.76 per set) and a .926 reception percentage in 56 matches.
McPherson College competes in the College Division of District 6, which consists of NAIA and junior college student-athletes that attend school in the states of Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, and South Dakota.
The Bulldogs volleyball program finished the season with a 12-18 overall record, including an 8-10 mark in KCAC play.
