Rome, Ga. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced Friday that 244 football student-athletes have been named 2011 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes, including six honorees from McPherson College.

The Bulldogs six representatives are senior fullback John Davidson (Tulsa, Okla.), senior wide receiver Andy Skinner (Montezuma, Kan.), senior offensive lineman David Kraft (Peck, Kan.), junior quarterback Jake Snodgrass (Derby, Kan.), junior linebacker Luke Dillavou (Elizabeth, Colo.) and junior wide receiver James Patton (Cunningham, Kan.). The award is the second consecutive for Skinner, while the other five receive the honor for the first time.

Student-athletes are nominated by their institution’s head coach and must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status in order to qualify for the honor.

Despite missing half of the 2010 season due to injury, Davidson played in all 11 games in 2011 at the fullback position. Primarily a blocker, he recorded one carry for no yards on the season.

Skinner finished 2011 as the team leader with 43 receptions for 602 yards and seven touchdowns. In addition to the NAIA honor, Skinner was named to the Capital One Academic All-American first team earlier this fall.

Kraft, who joined Skinner on the Academic All-American first team, played in all 11 games this season at either center or tackle and has been a key member of the Bulldog offensive line the past three seasons.

Snodgrass, possibly the most decorated of the 2011 Bulldog honorees, was also named the Capital One Academic All-American of the Year by the College Sports Information Directors of American (CoSIDA). Snodgrass led the team with 2,094 passing yards, including 19 touchdowns, while ranking third on the team with 333 rushing yards.

Dillavou recorded 12 tackles, including one tackle for loss in five games for the Bulldogs, while Patton posted five catches for 26 yards this season. Both Dillavou and Patton played primarily in a reserve role.

McPherson finished the season with a 4-7 overall record and 4-5 mark in Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference play.
