Sioux City, Iowa – In a recent announcement from the NAIA, senior Kory Hiebert (Goessel, Kan.) and junior Natalie Boss (Waterville, Kan.) were named to the 2011 Daktronics-NAIA Volleyball Scholar-Athlete Team. Both Hiebert and Boss earn the NAIA’s highest academic honor for the first time in their careers. The announcement was made in conjunction with the 2011 NAIA Women’s Volleyball National Champions in Sioux City, Iowa.

To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be nominated by their institution’s head coach, must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and have achieved junior academic status.

An outside hitter from Goessel, Kan., Hiebert was named to her second consecutive All-KCAC first team following the conclusion of the 2011 season. She led McPherson with a .332 hitting percentage and 2.91 kills per set average. Hiebert posted 18 matches with double-digit kills, including a season-high 15 kills against Bethel on Oct. 26. At the net, Hiebert ranked amongst the top 10 nationally in total blocks (143) and blocks per game (1.40).

Boss, an outside hitter from Waterville, Kan., was named to the all-conference honorable mention team earlier this fall. The award marked the third consecutive season she has represented McPherson on the All-KCAC team. Boss finished 2011 ranked third on the team with 213 kills and a 2.20 kill per set average.

In all, 392 student-athletes earned the honor in women’s volleyball, including 29 individuals from the KCAC.
