McPherson, Kan. – McPherson College interim head tennis coach LaMonte Rothrock has announced that Jordan Stewart and Alex Cosenza have signed letters of intent to join the Bulldog men’s tennis program in the fall of 2011.
Stewart, a native of Sterling, Kan., enters his senior high school season a three-year letter winner at Sterling High School. In 2010, Stewart represented the Knights at the Kansas State High School Activities Association (KSHSAA) 3A Boys State Tennis Tournament after posting a 27-9 record on the season. He finished seventh in the state tournament.
“McPherson College is excited to have a quality student-athlete commit to the tennis program,” said Rothrock. “Jordan is a hard worker, who has seen his game improve from one season to the next.”
Stewart, the son of James and Stacey Corwin, plans to major in biochemistry at McPherson.
Cosenza, a Beverly Hills, Mich. Native, played prep tennis at Wylie E. Groves High School in Beverly Hills, Mich. He earned two varsity letters for the Falcons. On the court, Cosenza is a two-time state tournament qualifier.
“McPherson provides a unique opportunity for Alex,” said Rothrock. “He can continue to participate and grow as a tennis player, while pursuing a degree in automotive restoration. We look forward to having him in both programs this fall.”
Cosenza, the son of Doug and Susan Cosenza, plans to major in automotive restoration and business at McPherson.
