McPherson’s Falk Earns Capital One Academic All-District Honors

McPherson, Kan. – Junior infielder Andrea Falk (Cheyenne, Wyo.) was one of 33 NAIA softball student-athletes honored by the College Sports Information Directors of American (CoSIDA) as a Capital One Academic All-District VII Third Team award winner. McPherson College is included as part of the College Division, which combines NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools.

Falk played in 47 games, including 45 starts, and registered a .268 batting average, 37 hits, 17 walks, 27 RBIs and a team-best eight home runs.

Off the field, she posted a 3.96 grade point average as a chemistry major.

CoSIDA annually names Academic All-American and All-District teams in all sports. The organization was established in 1957 and currently has a 2,400-plus membership comprised of sports public relations, communications and information professionals throughout all levels of collegiate athletics.

To qualify for the award, a student-athlete must maintain a 3.30 cumulative grade point average, have achieved at least sophomore status at their current institution and must have played in at least 50 percent of the team’s games.

Falk is the lone representative from the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference on the District VII team, which consists of athletes from Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Saskatchewan (Canada) and Albert (Canada).

The Bulldogs ended the season with a 22-26 overall record and 8-8 mark in KCAC play.
