Marion, Ind. – The McPherson College track team concluded its season on Friday in day three of the NAIA Outdoor National Championships Friday in Marion, Ind. The meet was held on the campus of Indiana Wesleyan University.
Junior Daniel Sorenson (Lakewood, Calif.) highlighted the afternoon with a sixth place finish in the 3,000m steeplechase to become McPherson’s second All-American in the championship. Sorenson led a portion of the race and recovered from clipping his foot on the barrier to finish with a time of 9:11.64.
Senior pole vaulter Mitchell Krier (Sterling, Colo.) was the other Bulldog in action, but failed to register a height in the event. Krier passed on the opening height of 4.60m (15’-1”), before three misses at 4.75m (15’-7”) ended his bid at a championship.
Overall on the men’s side, Shorter College (Ga.) edged Doane College (Neb.), 66-59, to win its first national championship, while Concordia University (Ore.) won the women’s championship with 86 points.
