McPherson, Kan. – McPherson College senior cross country runner Ashley Huizar has been named the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week, after her performance over the weekend at the Blue Dragon Invitational.

Huizar was the top finisher after covering the 4K course in 15:09. The finish not only won her the individual championship, but also set a new course record. The win is the first of Huizar’s career.

This marks the first time Huizar has one this award for the Bulldogs.

Huizar and the rest of the Bulldog cross country team return to action on Saturday, Oct. 15, when MC hosts the 2011 Lakeside Shoot. The event is scheduled to start with the women’s race at 10:15 a.m.
