McPherson Begins Athletic Facility Renovations

Facilites Renovation Phase I

Football | 1/27/2012 2:22:00 PM

McPherson, Kan. – The McPherson College athletic department announced today that construction on the athletic facilities renovation officially began earlier this month by ATG Sports of Andover, Kan.

“We’re excited about the next step in the advancement of our athletics facilities at McPherson College,” said McPherson athletic director Doug Quint. “Once completed, this upgrade will definitely contribute to the continued success of our student-athletes. Additionally, it will propel our facilities back to one of the top places to play in the KCAC.”

The project officially began on Jan. 9 with the anticipated completion date of March 1. This portion of the phase includes a reformatting of the current base rock and the installation of new artificial turf (Ram Turf) and field goals. ATG sports will use a laser grading system to ensure proper function of the new product.

In addition to a new playing surface for the soccer and football programs, McPherson College will be resurfacing the track, including a perimeter security fence, and the installing two natural grass practice fields.

“We felt the inclusion of addition training facilities in Phase I was a necessity,” said Quint. “This will allow multiple teams to practice at normal hours, which in turn will help our student-athletes not only be successful on the field, but in the classroom. Plus, it allows us to utilize the turf as a game only facility.”

The total completion of Phase I is scheduled for the summer of 2012.
