Track and Field | 2/13/2012 4:59:00 PM

Wichita, Kan. – The Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference held its first ever KCAC Indoor Track and Field Championship meet this past weekend, Feb. 10-11.  Friends University won both the Men’s and Women’s trophies while McPherson finished sixth and eighth, respectively.

The top performer for the McPherson men was senior Derrick Toney whose 6’ 11" leap in high jump set not only a personal and indoor school record but it propelled him to the top of the NAIA performance chart as well.  Toney, after passing on the first three heights, came in at 1.91 meters (6’ 3") and cleared that and the next two levels without hitting the bar once.  He had a tough battle with 2.06 meters (6’ 9.1") but it was cleared on his third try.  Taking care of the next two heights with only one miss, Toney was finally knocked out at 2.14 meters (7’ 0.25").
