McPherson, Kan. – The women’s basketball team of McPherson College were awarded three all-conference honors for the 2011-2012 season.
Elice Frey (Riley, Kan.) and Kt Porter (Wichita, Kan.) were named 2011-2012 All-KCAC Honorable Mention. Elice, a senior forward, led the team in rebounding with 176 which ranked her sixth in the conference. She was also second in the KCAC, 10th in the NAIA Division II, in total blocks for the season. Elice was in the top 20 of the conference for both total points scored and points per game.
Kt was McPherson’s leading scorer for the season with 357 points, averaging 12.31 per contest. Her point totals put her in the top 10 of the KCAC in both those categories; Kt also cracked the top 10 in both steals (46) and steals per game (1.59). She played the highest amount of minutes for MC this season as well as made the most field goals.
The third recipient of an award for the Bulldogs is Brittany Pittas (Lake in the Hills, Ill.) who received the “Freshman-of-the-Year” title and was named to the 2011-2012 All-KCAC Freshman Team. Brittany was ninth in the conference with her 316 points, averaging 11.7 each outing. She also finished the regular season eighth in the KCAC in three-point percentage (31.3) and shots made from behind the arc (46).
Coach Rolfs said this about his team’s accomplishments:
“I am happy for each of our players who were recognized for all conference awards. They have all worked hard and are deserving. It’s been a great season for this team, and each of these individuals were a big part of that.”
