McPherson Women’s Soccer earns NSCAA Team Ethics Award

WScr11 - Gray vs MACU

Women's Soccer | 2/8/2012 9:45:00 AM

For four years now, ever since Robert Talley became the women’s soccer head coach for the Bulldog athletics department, the team has won the NSCAA Team Ethics Award. Senior Whitney Smith said that the team was, “honored to get it.  We really wanted to keep the streak going, and the underclassmen better get the award next year!”

“I’m very proud of my players for receiving this award,” stated Coach Talley.  “Our coaching staff expects each of our players to play with respect and integrity while also playing with passion every time they step out on to the pitch.”

Cheyna Buchman, business administration major, remembered that “we were a really aggressive team, but we played smart and timed our tackles well.” Mid-fielder Rachael Cornell thinks that they won the award because of their, “good team chemistry on and off the field. We all get along and help each other out, whether it’s in the classroom or on the field.”

Coach Talley said, “This award truly demonstrates the team’s ability to maintain professionalism and responsibility in a competitive environment such as the NAIA.”

The team will look to continue the NSCAA Team Ethics Award streak next season and will be vying to improve their 2011 third place finish in the KCAC.
