Hillsboro, Kan. – 11 schools competed in the 2012 Wendy’s/Tabor College Invitational on April 18th. McPherson College had 12 top seven finishes with three Season Bests (SB ) and eight Personal Records (PR).
Topping the list of PRs for the men was Evan Clary whose 42.18m (138' 4.62") hammer throw bested his previous Season Best by nearly 10 meters. Josh Dunback’s 12.62m (41' 4.85") shot put was .6 meters further than his former SB. Derrick Toney took first place in the high jump for the fourth straight meet.
On the women’s side of the team, Krissa Fuentes’ performance in the discus, throwing the discus 2.54 meters longer than her previous Personal Record, crowned her as MC’s top female competitor of the day. Ashley Martinez was a close second after cutting off nearly one minute from her previous SB in the 5000m run, putting in a 21:51.48 time.
For a select few, the next meet will be the Kansas Relays in Lawrence, Kan., which goes from April 19th-21st. After the KU Relays, MC track will have one more meet before the KCAC championships. The squad will travel to Baldwin, Kansas and compete in the Baker Relays on April 28th.
