Rotering Breaks School Record at KU Relays

Paul at Tabor

Track and Field | 4/23/2012 1:30:00 PM

McPherson, Kan. – Six McPherson College Bulldogs competed at the Kansas Relays which was held from April 19th – 21st in Lawrence Kansas at Memorial Stadium.  Over 5,000 professional, collegiate and high school track and field athletes competed in the meet.

Paul Rotering had a seven meter season improvement in the javelin and set a new Personal Record with his throw of 60.62m (198’ 11”).  That mark also broke the school record of 58.12m, thrown by Sean Racette in 1990.  With that toss, Rotering qualified for the 2012 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Nationals and is now ranked fourth in the NAIA this season.  Derrick Toney was the lone Bulldog to make it to the awards stand at KU, courtesy of his 2.10m (6’ 10.75”) leap in high jump that gave him a third place finish.

On the women’s side, Aspen Frey led the way for the Lady Bulldogs with her 5:10.13 time in the 1500m run.  Frey’s time was only eight seconds off of the school record.

McPherson has one meet left until the KCAC Championships; they travel to Baldwin, Kan., to compete in the Baker Relays on Saturday, April 28.
