Emporia, Kan. – 12 Bulldogs competed in the 2012 Sam Williams Twilight Qualifier hosted by Emporia State University on May 12th. The meet is the annual “last chance” meet for a large number of schools in Kansas trying to qualify athletes for their respective national track and field meet.
McPherson recorded three Season Bests on the day and a Personal Record by Megan Pohlmann in the hammer throw, as she launched the hammer 42.94m (140’ 10”). The other two females competing in the meet, Aspen Frey and Ashley Huizar, each recorded SBs with Frey running a 5:05.59 1500m and Huizar posting a time of 19:35.13 in the 5000m run.
David Parry ran a 1:55.78 in the 800m run, setting a Season Best just weeks after suffering a broken collar bone. Derrick Toney grabbed the men’s only first place finish by jumping 2.11m (6’ 11”) in the high jump.

Paul Rotering, Garrett Sharp and Toney are the McPherson College representatives that will be heading to the 61st NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships on May 24-26 in Marion, Indiana, hosted by Indiana Wesleyan University. All other MC track and field athletes are done for the season.
