McPherson, Kan. – McPherson College men’s soccer teammates
Tyler Tank (Austin, Texas) and
Andrew Suits (Henderson, Nev.) have been named to the Capital One Academic All-District 6 team, announced Friday afternoon by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
The teams are voted upon by members of CoSIDA in each of the eight districts. Student-athletes must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.2 and are selected based on both their academic and athletic service to their teams. By virtue of their selection to the District 6 team, Tank and Suits will both be on the ballot for the national Academic All-American award.
Tank, a senior defender, also earned a spot on the Academic All-District team as a junior. A double major in accounting and finance, Tank has excelled both on and off the pitch. As a defender, Tank has earned four consecutive All-KCAC awards and in 2009 was named to the NAIA honorable mention All-American team. He owns six career goals and two assists, including one goal this season, which came against Manhattan Christian on Sept. 14. Academically, Tank was named a 2010 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete and maintains the credentials to make a second appearance on that list.
Suits, a junior defender, makes his first appearance on the Academic All-District team. A business major, Suits has played in 48 matches since joining the Bulldogs in 2009 as a freshman. He owns four career goals and four assists, including two assist this season. Similarly to Tank, Suits maintains the proper credentials to make his first appearance on the Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete list this fall.
McPherson College competes in College Division of District 6, which consists of NAIA and junior college student-athletes that attend school in the states of Kansas, Montana, Nebraska and South Dakota.
